Welcome to Islay and Lochindaal View Self Catering Cottage

Lochindaal View is a beautiful semi-detached cottage situated in the village of Bowmore, the heart of the Island of Islay. Located beside Bowmore Distillery and the world famous Number 1 warehouse, the cottage is only a few moments walk away from the Mactaggart Leisure Centre, shops, hotels and the historic Round Church.

The cottage offers lovely, clean, spacious accommodation for up to five people, all on one level and comprises the following: The sitting room with Freeview television, DVD player and Wi-Fi broadband, leads onto a decking area and enclosed garden, offering spectacular views over Lochindaal. The kitchen is fully-equipped with fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave oven, main oven and hob, kettle and toaster. The cottage is available for let all year round.

The main bedroom features a king-size double-bed and is equipped with an en-suite shower room. There is also one twin room and one single room. The main bathroom has an over-bath shower.

The house is non-smoking.

Our accommodation is pet friendly.

A Recharging Point for Electric Vehicles is situated 200m from the cottage at the rear of the VisitScotland Tourist Information Office in Morrison Court.

Islay

Islay offers many and varied holidays and adventures. From family beach holidays in summer to whisky tourism, fishing, shooting, birdwatching and hiking holidays all year. For amateur historians the island offers a rich past from some of the first Mesolithic sites in Scotland, to Iron Age hill forts and of course Finlaggan, seat of the MacDonalds, Lords of the Isles.

Other attractions include the famous Islay Fèis of Malt and Music in May and the highlight of the year, held on the second Thursday in August, The Islay, Jura and Colonsay Agricultural Association’s Annual Show, now in its 175th Year. Sea tours are also available to Northern Ireland, the Corrievreckan whirlpool, off the coast of Jura and for wildlife watching.

Booking and Rates

Bookings are generally Saturday to Saturday, but alternative arrangements can be made on request. Check-in time is from 3pm onwards and checkout time is 10am. All prices include electricity, central heating, broadband wifi , bedding and towels. A non-refundable deposit of £150 confirms your booking, the balance is due eight weeks prior to arrival . Bookings made within eight weeks of arrival should be paid in full at the time of booking.

How to get here

BY CAR: From Glasgow, drive to Kennacraig - this journey should take approximately two and a half hours, or longer should you wish to take in the beautiful scenery. Take the A82 up Loch Lomondside, turning onto the A83 at Tarbet - continue on through both Inveraray and Lochgilphead towards Tarbert on Loch Fyne. The ferry port of Kennacraig is just five miles on from Tarbert. Please note that Kennacraig is simply a ferry terminal and not a town or village. It is clearly signposted on the Tarbert- Campbeltown road.

BY BUS: A daily bus service operates from Glasgow Buchanan Street Bus Station by West Coast Motors making a connection with the ferry at Kennacraig. For schedule information, contact the Travel Centre at Buchanan Street Bus Station +44 (0)141 332 7133 - www.citylink.co.uk

BY FERRY: Caledonian MacBrayne operate the two hour crossing which runs throughout the year, with additional sailings during the summer season. BY AIR: Loganair operate a scheduled service from Glasgow Airport to Islay with a new service from Edinburgh Airport starting in early 2019. This is the quickest way to travel and can provide spectacular views of the islands and Kintyre.
